Hand build and decorate your own Mug !
2 hours 6:30 - 8:30pm
I will take you through the pottery process step by step to slab build and decorate your very own mug.
YOu will measure and cut each rolled out section of the clay then emboss the surface from a choice of decoration techniques, guided instruction will be given to build the mug and make and attach the handle.
All equipment, clay and decorating tools will be provided.
Each piece that you make will then be dried, bisque fired and then glaze fired by Planet Janet ceramics before being returned to you, ready to use.
Make your own small bowl or jug
2 hours 6:30 - 8:30 pm
I will take you through the technique of coiling clay step by step to build your own small bowl or jug. You will learn to prepare the base and make coils of even size and thickness in order to build your own pieces one layer at a time.
Guided instruction will be given to shape the form correctly by varying the positioning of the coils. You will be able to add abstract decoration to the finished piece with the addition of flecks of a coloured slip of your choice.
All equipment, clay and decorating tools will be provided.
Each piece that you make will then be dried, bisque fired and then glaze fired by Planet Janet Ceramics before being returned to you, ready to use.

Join us for an exciting session on the art of Sgraffito, where you will learn the basics of this amazing decorating technique. You will have the great opportunity to create your own design on pieces that once fired you can then display in your own home.

You will be guided through each step of the process by Jan from The Great Pottery Throwdown Series 7.
This amazing session will include the application of the slip to the clay surface and safe drying methods.You will have the opportunity to work with leather hard prepared clay pieces, and select from a range of Jan's unique, personally made ,coloured earthenware slips to cover the surface before carving in your design.
All equipment will be provided for drafting your proposed design, plus a practice tile to slip and score on, finally the main project plaque to slip and sgraffito in your own design.

Join us for a fun and creative evening at our Pottery Taster Workshop 4 where you'll get the chance to make your very own tea light candle holder! No experience necessary, just come along and enjoy getting your hands dirty with clay.
This creative clay workshop will include a demonstration of hand building techniques for example tea light candle holder designs by Jan from Series 7 of The Great Pottery Throwdown. Step by step demonstration and instruction will be provided for a number of different hand building techniques that you could use. Jan will then support you in creating your own unique design candle holder.
You will be using white earthenware clay in addition to surface decoration tools and cutters to allow your original ceramic design come to life, ready to be fired and light up your own home as a memory of the event.
You will then be able to select any coloured slip or oxide you may wish Jan to add to your piece once it has been bisque fired before its final glazing.
All instruction, equipment needed , firing and glazing is included in the price as well as a welcoming cuppa.

Jan from The Great Pottery Throwdown Series 7 is hosting this fun filled workshop in which you can make your very own decorations. Jan will demonstrate some options for you using different hand building techniques and personally guide you through your own design and creation for up to three decorations which will then be dried, fired and if required glazed in time for you to collect for Christmas 2025.
